Nouns are words used to name people, animals, places, thing, and abstract ideas. 

Example of Nouns in Sentences

Vibol will study in college in January. He has not had the choice of college yet. He has a lot things to think about. He likes medical science, but he is afraid that he cannot afford the tuition fees. Of course, he will look for employment when he goes to university to get some more money for his own living expenses there. In school, everyone calls Vibol “King of math and biology”. Vibol is my role model.

Nouns: Functions

In sentences, nouns are used in various functions. Let us look at the examples above.

1. Subject of verbs: Vibol will study in college.
2. Object of verbs: He has not had a choice of college yet. 
3. Object of prepositions: He will look for employment. 
4. Object complement: Everyone calls Vibol “King of math and biology”.
5. Subject complement: Vibol is my role model.
6. Nouns as modifiers: Makara, my active student, is very smart.
